In the Montafon valley a special construction project is carried out: at the start of the winter season 2011/ 2012 two new ropeways – the Grasjoch ropeway and the Hochalpila ropeway – were put into operation. These ropeways link the ski areas Hochjoch and Silvretta Nova. The total investment amounts to 30 million Euros. With that, the largest and most varied ski experience in our region is created. The combination of both ski areas, results in a total of 66 ski runs with 96 downhill miles and 16 ski routes. The bottom station of the new Grasjoch ropeway is |

located next to the bottom station of the Valisera ropeway at St. Gallenkirch. From there the ropeway covers a distance of 5,430 yards to the twin-station near the Grasjoch Hut at an altitude of 6,482 feet. Over there one can change to the Hochalpila ropeway, that covers the 1,492 yards to the Alpila ridge, at an altitude of nearly 8,000 feet, the highest point in the whole ski area.
The complete journey takes about 16 minutes. The views are spectacular, especially since the distance to the ground is sometimes more than 300 feet.
